The Mangosteen Boutique Resort Phuket Thailand invites to celebrate Songkran Festival, Thai New Year!
To celebrate the Thai New Year (which we call Songkran Festival), we would like to invite you to our traditional ceremony by the pool area, starting from 12.00 noon.
All the Mangosteen team will meet at the pool to sprinkle water on Buddha images, wishing good luck and pouring scented water onto the hands of seniors or elders to make merits and to dedicate the result to their ancestors. The elders in return wish the youngsters good luck and prosperity.
Songkran is a Thai traditional New Year which starts on April 13 every year and lasts for 3 days.
Songkran is a Thai word which means "move" or "change place" as it is the day when the sun changes its position in the zodiac. It is also known as the "Water Festival" as people believe that water will wash away bad luck.
The Mangosteen provides a water gun for you to joyfully sprinkle water. To take our beach bus to go to the beach is most fun on this day too! Of course you will get soaking wet!
In the evening Mangosteen Chef and his team are preparing a special Thai Tradition Dinner set for you to enjoy Thai New Year.
